A Statement From the Clay Young Dems

The Clay County Young Democrats stand with a growing segment of the Democratic base that is increasingly critical of the policies and actions of Israel. This shift reflects a broader rise in public awareness and concern regarding the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza and escalating actions of Israel invading and occupying 14% of Lebanon.

We believe the Democratic base is guided by a commitment to universal human rights, international law, and accountability. For many, this includes deep concern over the treatment of Palestinians and the broader implications of ongoing aggression and conflict in the region.

In light of these concerns, we are disappointed that the Democratic National Committee declined to advance a resolution addressing these issues and acknowledging the growing disconnect between party leadership and its base.

We therefore call on the Democratic Party to take meaningful steps toward aligning its practices with its stated values. Specifically, we call for the adoption of a resolution prohibiting Democratic candidates from accepting funding from the AIPAC and similar political action committees. Such a policy would reinforce the party’s commitment to ethical consistency, transparency, and an independent foreign policy grounded in human rights.

At a moment of profound global consequence, we believe the Democratic Party must listen to its base and act with moral clarity
